Established in 1948 by W. Süss as a journal of the Mathematisches Institut Oberwolfach. Not to be confused with Archiv der Mathematik und Physik published earlier (1841-1920), and Archiv for Mathematik og Naturvidenskab founded in Norway in 1876 by Sophus Lie et al.
