Syllabus (pdf file).
A very brief synopsis of topics covered so far (pdf file).
Homework 1, due September 5September 24, 2013
Take any nonabelian the 3-dimensional simple Lie algebra and compute its derivations and automorphisms.
Project 1, due September 19October 8, 2013
Try to design and to write a program (or a set of programs) which by a given (nonassociative) algebra, given by its structure constants, computes its derivation algebra. The base field can be assumed whatever you like - rationals, reals, a finite field, etc. You can use any programming language and/or environment.
